INTEGRATION PROJECTS

Centralization of the Secondary Treatment Information for the Pulp and Paper Industry.
This project consisted of a study to determine the necessary information, equipment, software, installation and start-up costs of a supervisory system of four (4) plants from the research centre plant at Grand-Mère. Distributed control systems DCS (Bailey, Honeywell) and programmable controllers (Allen-Bradley) were chosen for the control system. The plant at Trois-Rivières uses the PL historical data acquisition system.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shipping Line Controls for the Pulp and Paper Industry.
This project consisted of developing an operator interface, which controls the finishing/shipping line of four plants. The control screens were developed using Factory Link 6.0 and the data was saved in an Oracle 7.3 database. It was also necessary to modify the Siemens S7-400 programmable controllers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Selection of SCADA and MES Standardized Solutions for the Consumer Goods Industry.
These projects encompassed an evaluation of the needs of user interfaces, data collection and production optimization of the North American plants. A line of software products was also chosen to meet these needs as well as evaluate the set-up and implementation costs for each plant.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Design and Start up of the Control System for the Transport Industry.
In this project new equipment was designed, manufactured, supplied, installed, configured and programmed. This included the testing and start-up of a new command and supervisory system of various equipment for the Ville-Marie Tunnel. A Quantum redundant controller was installed for each of the six vent towers interconnected by a fibre optic redundant Modbus+ communication network. A control system for 107 traffic lights was installed whereby each traffic light is controlled by a S7-200 controller interconnected to a communication network with Quantum controllers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Emergency System Training for the Aluminum Smelter Industry.
This project designed and provided the training for the operation procedures and functionality of the following items; compressed air chains, electrical design of various control panels located in the compressed air department, network configuration of DeviceNet and Modbus+ as well as various controllers programmed in Concept, Grafcet languages and function blocks.

Emergency System.
This project required detailed engineering for the integration of a compressed air isolation valve that was installed on the line, which supplies the unloading area. It also included the design of electrical drawings, equipment specification, controller and operator interface programming, technical documentation and the start-up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monitor Pro Conversion for the Food Industry (Yeast).
This project dealt with converting the programmed application of Schneider’s operator interface software Monitor Pro from version 6.5 to version 7.0.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Bottle-Filling Machine Integration for the Food Industry (Bottling).
This project integrated a new bottle-filling machine to an already existing line. The project included the mechanical (automation and process) and electrical design, preparing of installation specifications, supervision of the installation, programming and the start-up of the new integrated system.

Relocation of Entire Can Packaging Line for the Food Industry (Bottling).
This large-scale project not only integrated new equipment, but also relocated existing equipment for a complete can-packaging line. Axium’s mandate encompassed the mechanical and electrical design (including layout drawings, P&ID, electrical drawings, etc.) detailed budget preparations and installation specifications, supervision of the installation, programming and the start-up of the entire line.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Universal Engine Test Controller Prototype for the Aeronautics Industry.
This project was designed as a mobile universal airplane bench test controller. The project included the electrical design and that of mechanical parts, PLC/HMI programming along with specialized card interfacing, workshop testing, and finally on site installation and start-up.
